Insecure transfer routes such as the internet or non-encrypted MPLS networks therefore require some sort of security to prevent unauthorised access. The choice of transfer routes and technologies is extremely important to prevent interruptions. Nevertheless if the system suffers a failure,  troubleshooting and suitable backup and redundancy strategies are required immediately.

Access lines (IP access) from nicos or from the customer

The line and access technologies used depend on the technical feasibility in the various countries and sites and on the bandwidths and fail-safe capacities required by the customer. They primarily comprise of the following:

Permanent circuit connections

 * DSL * Wireless (radio relay, Wimax, UMTS) * Satellites

The bandwidths range from 64 kbit/s to 155 Mbit/s depending on access technology and country. Optionally existing lines at customers branch offices or in the company’s head office can be integrated into the management and service concept. It is also possible to purchase access lines (IP access) from nicos without management and service.
